New Venue for 2012! - Madonna di Campiglio in the Western Dolomites
Having been to Galtür Austria for many years, we have been investigating the possibility of relocating for 2012.
We first focussed our attention on Livigno Italy which we used as a ski week resort on three occasions in the 1970`s. We made a visit for 3 days in April and then a further two days in July. We were close to a decision in favour of the resort but finally rejected the resort on the basis of poor infrastructure and the difficulty of locating Hotels close together with sufficient capacity.
We had received very favourable reports on one of the top 10 Italian resorts Madonna di Campiglio in the Western Dolomites. We skied the area many years ago and were impressed . We made two visits this August to look at Hotels, appartments and examine the infrastructure. We are very excited that we have a resort that we think will surpass Galtür and will meet all the requirements of an Munich international community ski week. We are sure that this location will revitalise the interest in ski week after so many years in Galtür and bring a large section of the international community together
We have identified the following points in favour of Madonna di Campiglio
| Snow sure. Village located at 1550 m. Slopes reach 2580 m at highest point |
| 150 kms of directly connected skiing ( 44 blue, 35 red and 14 black ski runs) |
| 95% of pistes are supported with snow machines and snow cats, which ensures the slopes are well maintained. |
| Modern high tech lifts.Generous lift capacity reduces lift lines. |
| Good off piste possibilities |
| Traffic free resort with its extensive pedestrian area, shops and bars |
| 3 lifts radiate in various directions from the center of the village |
| We will be able to offer a 6% reduction on Hotel prices and 3% on Appartments for registrations The group will also be granted a 15% reduction on ski lessons. |
| The area has been declared The Dolomiti Unesco World Natural Heritage and has incredible scenery |
| Great Italian cuisine in Huts and Hotels. |
| Large frozen lake (200 x 70m) for skating in the center of the village. |
| Arrangements have already been made to organise our traditional ski week ski race. |
